Daily Area Rug Care
Much like carpet flooring, area rugs are a fairly low-maintenance flooring option. However, there are certain steps that you can take to guarantee that your area rug ages well over time. Some of these, while obvious, can be the difference between an area rug that lasts for a year or so and one that lasts for much-much more.
With area rugs, the key is to vacuum them often. By establishing a vacuuming routine and working to remove dirt and debris from the fibers of the carpet, you are actively working to prolong its lifespan while also helping to keep your rug looking great. You should also consider placing doormats at the entrances of your home and encouraging your guests to always remove their shoes before entering.
Dealing With Area Rug Spills & Stains
When spills take place, the key is to act fast. The longer you wait, the more likely the stain is to settle into the fabric of your floors. We recommend blotting liquids with an absorbent cloth or white paper towels.
You should always check with your manufacturer before trying any unknown cleaning products on your flooring.
Should you settle on a solution, spray some on a clean cloth and begin working from the edges of the spill to the certain. From there, blot the stain. If, as you blot, you continue to absorb the original spill into your cloth, then continue to do so. This process may need to be repeated multiple times.
When the spill has been removed, use a dry cloth to absorb the remaining wetness.
